Experience a “Second Chance” Working with a Ghostwriter on Your Memoir

From the office of Jeffrey A. Mangus, Professional Ghostwriter

“Memoir writing: cut deep until your blood gushes out. The writing must be that honest.” ― Cathryn Vogeley, I Need to Tell You.

The other day, I turned on the TV and saw a preview of a movie I had never seen called “The Do-Over.” I love Adam Sandler movies, especially on a lazy Sunday afternoon, so I clicked play, and the movie was great and funny. The Do-Over follows two middle-aged men who get a chance to relive their high school days with the goal of correcting their past mistakes. They end up going down a dangerous path and building a new life, with their teenage selves going through regret and the idea that it’s never too late to change life.

After the movie, I remembered an author I worked for a few years ago saying, “I survived a living hell. I can’t believe what I’ve been through! I just relived it, and I’m better now.”

Those words packed an intense punch. As her ghostwriter, I felt honored to bring her story to the page and witness the revelations she found buried inside her memories. These revelations astounded her, and as she relived them, they changed her life. Working with me, she was reliving those tragedies and got a second chance to right some wrongs from a life lived so hard. I admit it was surreal and mind-numbing just to hear it. But, after I settled in as her ghostwriter, asking the tough questions for the first time, she came face-to-face with what she had survived, playing the leading role of taking command of her life.

It was a game-changer.

When you write a memoir with a ghostwriter, you are the main character as you reflect on your life events. During the writing, recollection, and unearthing, you will get a rare opportunity to step inside your mind, reliving things from a new perspective, and you may discover shocking revelations.

Warning: It can hit hard.

But the lesson is always beyond the pain, and writing a memoir is worth the effort as you relive emotions and experiences to better your life. Even though it is hard…the experience will change you.

As a top-tier ghostwriter, I guide my authors through the process with empathy and understanding. I know when, how, and why to ask the right questions to inspire deep reflection, bringing out the most authentic and compelling stories. It is by reliving those moments in the depths of our past, seeing the mountains conquered and the memories, that a true healing transformation happens.

It’s common for business professionals to want to write a memoir but struggle to begin, resulting in a blank page. Memoir writing can intimidate you since it involves exploring your own memories and experiences and molding them into a gripping story. Engaging the services of a ghostwriter can be a game-changer in situations like these.

As a skilled ghostwriter, I work tirelessly to give your memoir a unique and extreme perspective that will enhance it. I know how to structure memoirs in a way that is engaging, keeping the reader turning the page. Working alongside my authors, I help organize thoughts and memories to bring out the emotional depth of the authors’ stories. Regrettably, this is the stage where countless aspiring authors struggle and throw in the towel.

One of my specialties and unseen abilities is capturing raw moments and emotions in ways many new authors struggle to do. I enjoy it because, more than anything else, you are preserving a legacy as you delve deep into the events that shaped your life.

It’s healing.

Writing a memoir is soul-cleansing and brings a magical transformation, allowing people to rewrite their lives. As you learn more about yourself, you’ll have the rare chance to relive the past, understanding the road that brought you to where you are today. Writing a memoir is deeply personal and challenging as you revisit past traumas and triumphs. This is where you dig into the ugly stuff, the stuff buried deep, and you relive the struggles. Having a ghostwriter by your side can offer you the encouragement and guidance needed to navigate these emotional waters.

Memoirs are like mirrors that show your life, capturing memories that can be hard to handle. While memoirs cannot fully recreate experiences, they offer the rare chance to do a “do-over” as you reflect on and derive meaning from your life, providing a sense of closure or satisfaction. Writing memoirs is a great way to work through tough emotions and events and keep your personal history alive.

The truth is, we can never truly discover the meaning behind our stories. Why? Because there is never just one version that is “perfect.” Instead, we must relive and rewrite them; in doing so, we hope they will reshape us.
